Tenet Launches Online Employee Referral Program by TMP

TMP Worldwide recently unveiled an online employee referral program for Tenet South Florida. The program, which debuted in November 2006, has already proven successful in quickly attracting high-quality healthcare candidates in the Miami metropolitan area.

Part of nationwide health system Tenet Healthcare, Tenet South Florida is a network of 12 hospitals in three counties. Within this network, hospitals frequently compete for talent. Tenet South Florida's applicant flow had begun to decrease as competitors offered new hires huge sign-on bonuses.

TMP suggested that Tenet South Florida implement an online employee referral program consistent with their branding message, "Your Hospital, Our System." Each of the network's 12 hospitals was included on the site and in the program so that employees would be able to cross-refer within the network. David Schubert, Director of Recruitment for Tenet South Florida, remarked "TMP was able to customize an online ERP that targets our biggest needs. They leveraged our branding message and converted it into a successful program for us. The ability of the project team to understand our unique customizations helped us create a truly unique program."

David Schubert comments on the dramatic reduction in the length of the hiring process- "Since the launch of our ERP in November, we have noticed significant increases in referrals for our hard-to-fill positions. Our referrals under our previous program were 23% hard-to-fill positions. Our new program has shown an increase in these candidates and now 70% of our online referrals are for hard-to-fill positions. TMP was able to target our program to not only increase referrals but also reduce the hiring cycle of an employee referral."

Since the program's launch, Tenet South Florida has made 19 successful hires, and 16 of those have been nurses. TMP Worldwide plans to make continual changes to the program, available at, updating it with new incentives, creative pieces and web enhancements to keep it fresh and top of mind for employees.
