Twitter announced on Tuesday that sponsored tweets and accounts will soon be making their debut in mobile client apps. Currently, these Promoted Products (sponsored tweets, sponsored accounts, and sponsored trends) are only seen on Twitter.com and Twitter’s mobile website. Given that roughly half of Twitter users access the service via mobile, this move broadens the reach of advertising considerably. That said, users of third-party mobile clients will not see any of this advertising, preventing Twitter from reaching its full user base.
