TMP Acquires People in Business, Employer Brand Consulting Leader

February 15

People in Business to Maintain and Build its Global Identity and Make Services Available to TMP Worldwide's Global Network Partners

TMP Worldwide announced that it has acquired UK-based People in Business Limited, the world's leading employer brand consultancy. The acquisition expands TMP's global brand capabilities and reach, and enhances the offering available to the company's global network partners.

People in Business (PIB) will continue to help clients develop and manage their employer brands through comprehensive solutions that uncover, articulate and leverage a client's unique brand position to attract and retain the talented people they need. PIB's core service areas include employer brand research, proposition development and internal communication. Given the fundamental importance of leadership in delivering an effective long term employer brand strategy, most of their client engagements involve working with senior teams on leadership behaviors, relationships and team work.

One of PIB's core areas of expertise is the strengthening of employee relationships with powerful, highly skilled and business-critical professional groups such as fund managers, analysts, lawyers, underwriters, and clinicians. Current clients include RBS, Procter & Gamble, and Fidelity.

This acquisition demonstrates TMP's intent to expand the size and scope of their services since it became an independent company in August 2006. Veronis Suhler Stevenson, a private equity and structured capital fund management company dedicated to investing in the media and communications industries in North America and Europe, is TMP's majority owner.

"We are bringing together the most experienced team of employer brand consultants operating on a global scale," said Michelle Abbey, president and CEO of TMP. "Recruitment is evolving and a high level consulting capability ensures that we can respond to client needs for comprehensive employee research, strategic planning and coherent management across the entire employee experience. That is why we are so delighted to have Simon Barrow and his team as colleagues. Simon created the original employer brand approach and, with Richard Mosley, wrote the best-selling book 'The Employer Brand - bringing the best of brand management to people at work'."

"Joining TMP gives People in Business a global capability, and the opportunity to work with an ambitious team who share our view that great employer brands are built from the inside out, with the process starting at the top," said Simon Barrow, chairman of PIB. "Coupled with their deep understanding of the employee marketplace and record of innovation, we believe that no one is better placed to shape the future of recruitment and employer brand management to attract and inspire talented people."

TMP's employer branding team will present key learnings, best practices, and case examples on how to effectively engage your employees - especially in volatile times - at the Conference Board's "Extending Your Brand to Employees" event, taking place November 13-14 in Chicago. Richard Mosley co-author of the Employer Brand from PiB will participate as well. About People in Business

People in Business Limited (PIB, www.pib.co.uk) has been an independent business owned by its directors since 1992. Based in London, it works with HR, Marketing and line management on a range of Employer Brand related assignments. These include internal communications, employee research, senior management roles, relationships and teamwork, and the creation of the relevant Employer Brand (EB).

Simon Barrow, PIB's Chairman, created the EB concept after experience as a brand manager with Colgate-Palmolive and later as an advertising agency CEO, when it occurred to him that employees lacked the same care, coherence and understanding which a valued customer would expect.

PIB commissioned the first research on the EB (through London Business School), wrote the first paper on the subject (for the Journal of Brand Management) and, in 2005, Simon Barrow and Richard Mosley wrote the first book on the subject, published by Wiley and now available in English, German, Spanish, Swedish and Russian. "The Employer Brand" is a UK trademark owned by the company.

PIB directors are global speakers on the EB and have managed workshops for public and client audiences in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mumbai, Bangalore, Phuket, Milan, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Moscow, Warsaw, Riga, Tartu, Tallinn, Dublin, Toronto and San Francisco.
